NATURE OF WORK: The Security Technician is responsible for installation, testing, and maintenance of security related equipment to assure protection of tribal property and facilities.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install, test, and maintain video surveillance equipment, intrusion detection systems, and access control systems and equipment both digital and analog.
  • Coordinate periodic testing of various systems with organization, police department, fire department and monitoring company(s).
  • Perform checks on security related servers, cameras and work orders.
  • Troubleshoot reports and repair problems with networked security systems, networked equipment, resources, and services.
  • Pulling cables, terminating cables, connecting cables, mounting sensors, door control hardware, and dressing cables in a cabinet or rack, communications circuits, sensors, card reading and processing devices, security workstations, security servers, power supplies, AC and DC power applications, uninterrupted power supplies, surge protection, and other electronic security systems hardware and software.
  • Plan and install network based components, associated systems/applications, and network software and applications.
  • Access, manage and troubleshoot security devices.
  • Setup, maintain and upgrade resources and services.
  • Monitor and optimize related server performance.
  • Gather information and real-time problem notifications, diagnose, and provide solutions to problems.
  • Add, remove manage physical/logical disks to and from related storage systems and create space for new or existing file systems.
  • Perform security equipment configuration, DVR and related system backups.
  • Advises and recommends service resolutions, additions, upgrades to security manager.
  • Plan for the repair or replacement of inadequate systems, and expansion of existing systems as needed.
  • Work with and communicate with IT Department for provisioning Fiber, Ethernet and Analog configurations, needs and engineering.
  • Assist with training security staff in the use of security systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the flow of video and audio recording from the camera to the recorder.
  • Knowledge of DVR (Digital Video Recording) products.
  • Knowledge of PTZ (pan / tilt / zoom) cameras, Matrix Video and Audio Systems.
  • Knowledge of Motion Detection/Intrusion Detection systems.
  • Knowledge of Fire Alarm systems and monitoring.
  • Knowledge of modern security equipment, practices, procedures, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of Low Voltage Standards and Low Voltage Safety.
  • Knowledge of equipment used to install and maintain security equipment such as the Genie lift, cleaning chemicals, electrical tools and supplies.
  • Skill in the use of common office equipment such as a personal computer, fax, and multi-line phone.
  • Ability to work effectively under strict time constraints.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to work with computerized maps, charts and reports using various viewing and editing applications.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents, schematics, block diagrams and procedures.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to climb, stoop, crawl, reach, bend and perform other physical movements required for the job.
  • Ability to lift, carry and or maneuver up to 50lbs safely.
  • Ability to be on call and responsive after normal working hours.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3 years experience working with CCTV, alarm systems, digital and analog transmission mediums, control access and video switches.
  • Must have High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to perform work, on-call, for emergencies and security equipment malfunctions.
