POSITION TITLE: Substance Use Disorder Professional
SALARY RANGE: $28.20 - $37.81 *DOE
$58,656.00 - $78,644.80 Annually *DOE
DEPARTMENT: Wellness/Health

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Substance Use Disorder Professional is a member of the department's interdisciplinary team. Responsible for the provision of substance use disorder outpatient counseling services for individuals and families. This position coordinates aspects of patients' care with other providers, agencies, specialists and others in a holistic approach to wellness.


  • Provides direct counseling and case management services to patients, consisting of individual, group, family, and educational Provides assessment, admission, and, aftercare services.
  • Complete and maintain accurate records and reports regarding the patients' histories and progress, services provided, or other required
  • Follow progress of discharged patients to determine effectiveness of treatments.
  • Review and evaluate patient's progress in relation to measurable goals described in treatment and care plans.
  • Coordinate activities with courts, probation officers, community services, or other post­ treatment agencies.
  • Develop patient treatment plans based on research, clinical experience, and patient histories.
  • Coordinate counseling efforts with mental health professionals or other health professionals, such as doctors, nurses, or social
  • Plan or implement follow-up or aftercare programs for patients to be discharged from inpatient treatment
  • Interview clients, review records, and confer with other professionals to evaluate individuals' mental and physical condition and to determine their suitability for participation in a specific
  • Ensure security and confidentiality of all program data and operate in accordance with applicable regulations of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and 42 CFR Part 2.
  • Act as liaisons between clients and medical staff. Provide clients or family members with information about substance use disorders and about available services or programs, making appropriate referrals when necessary.


  • Current Washington State Certification as Substance Use Disorder Professional as mandated.
  • Must not have a history or evidence of alcohol and drug misuse for a period of two years immediately prior to the date of employment.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable under the Tribe's insurance policy.
  • Current CPR Certification and TB test annually.
  • Compliance of State Requirements to be a provider of the program for the Tribes revenue capture of billable services.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study. Experience working with youth. Experience working with Tribes and Native Communities.

OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS: Must have current CPR Certification and TB test. Authorize and complete a background check prior to employment. Pass pre-employment drug screen.

This position is generally sedentary. Employee sits most of the time but may walk or stand for brief periods to include offsite locations. Must be able to operate a personal computer and related office equipment necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.
